ARTIST BIO

Eric Skaggs spent most of his childhood growing up in a small town in North Central Ohio. In 1987, Eric graduated from Kent State University with a BFA in painting. After graduation, Eric continued his studies at Kent State University, completing a semester of Post Undergraduate studies in Ceramics. In his free time, Eric created the cartoon series Exit 244, which ran in the Cleveland Plain Dealer from 1993 to 1997. In September of 1994, Eric moved to Chicago, where he has continued pursuing his artwork, and exhibiting at different venues in Chicago and Cleveland.
 
STATEMENT

Approximately 8 yrs. ago my palette went from dark to very colorful, and through that colorful palette I have explored the relationship between the human figure and the outside world. The balance between the inner self and the outer facade, and the tipping point that lies somewhere in-between.
