ARTIST BIO
Kate has a bachelor's degree in Architectural Studies, Urban Studies, and Studio Arts from the University of Pittsburgh. Classically trained in painting, sculpture, and drawing, with a background in both architectural and urban theory, she brings a unique perspective to her current Master's studies in architecture at IIT. She has won several awards, including the Cultural Council Award of Artistic Merit, and has a number works on permanent display at civic institutions in Pennsylvania.
Currently Kate is investigating the potential of overlaid grids as means to truly understand and explore the chaos of modern life in the city, and the beauty inherent in its apparent randomness. She is also compiling a body of travel sketches of both horses and intimate spaces in the US, England, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Ireland, and the Netherlands.
