ARTIST BIO
Jessica Rose Witte is a multi-media installation artist whose ephemeral and
often methodical work attempts to fix the transitory. Non-traditional
materials, drawings, and altered found objects explore temporal themes of
degeneration, waiting, absence, and loss. Although a large number of her
sculpture and installation make reference to the figure, the viewer supplies
the physical body.
Jessica Witte's works have been featured in numerous juried and invitational
exhibitions in the Midwest, New York and California including venues such as
the San Diego Art Institute, the Rockford Art Museum (Rockford, IL) and The
Textile Center (Minneapolis, MN). She received an MFA from Northern
Illinois University, and a BFA with honors from the University of
Nebraska-Kearney. In 2005, she was awarded a winter artists residency and
later served as Interim Executive Director at the Kimmel Harding Nelson
Center for the Arts in Nebraska City. She is Director for the Nehring
Gallery and PR and Marketing Coordinator at the Northern Illinois University
Art Museum and instructs art classes at Waubonsee Community College.
