ARTIST BIO
Kate Smith moved from London from Chicago in July 2001. She was born in Plymouth, England, and spent her formative years in Salcombe, South Devon. She went on to study a degree in Graphic Design in Norwich, specializing in Illustration. Since graduating from The Royal College of Art with an MFA in 1995 she has continued to work on painting commissions, and has her work in a number of private collections.
She has been selling her paintings through a London gallery for the past six years, where she continues to exhibit. STATEMENT
She works on a relatively small scale on paper, using a mixture of media and collage. A strong feel for texture and colour reflect the influence of the sea and its landscape in her imagery. |
