STATEMENT
I am a painter whose work is primarily figurative. My ambition is to make a living record of the people I care about, and to create truthful (different from factual) images.
I am attempting to do this by taking each image separately, working exclusively from life, needing the energy of the live person there with me. This process of painting can be a very arduous one (the works evolve slowly, sometimes taking months or years to complete), so I tend to work on several pieces at once. If successful, though, the works take on an existence, a life, separate from that which I had wished (or willed) for them. In the process of creation they detach themselves from me, somehow.
