showPOD presents an exhibition by NEIU Students  
  March 13th, 2015 - showPOD - 1822-43 S. Halsted St.  
  CHICAGO --Northeastern Illinois University's (NEIU) art department is pleased to announce the exhibition of its art students at the Chicago Arts District in Pilsen. NEIU's Ceramics, Graphic Design, Metals, Photography, Printmaking, Painting/Drawing & Sculpture areas will represent the artistic vision and accomplishments of its current students in solo or collaborative exhibitions within each of the window spaces along Halsted St. The opening receptions will be held at 1843 S. Halsted on Friday, March 13th and Friday, April 10th from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Eloise Heinrich's is this year's Showpod participating student representing NEIU ceramics area. Graphic design will be represented by student Melissa Morris. Metals area will be featuring a group installation by students Jess Dal Pra, Maria Lendsey, Erin Rossi, Karen LoRusso, Patricia Stephens and Elodie Betend. Valerie McCune and Ruchelle Santos from the painting & drawing area are presenting a mix media collaborative installation. The photography area will present the work of Nancy Bustos, Brandon Sherrod and Marie Villamil. Farrah Curescu, will be representing NEIU's printmaking area and finally a group exhibition by the sculpture area will be featuring the work of Jess Dal Pra, Martin Espinoza, Patrick Estrada, Chelsea Lord, Karen LoRusso, Carly Seguin, Xinyu Wang, Zhiwen Xue and Thomas Youngberg.

This exhibition supports the NEIU art department vision to offer students the opportunity to prepare themselves for their careers as artists outside of school by exposing their work to a wide audience, building professional relationships with the art community and learning all aspects of exhibition development while still in school. The department emphasizes the importance of critical and analytical skills and promotes independent problem solving, visual literacy, and cultural awareness. Our intention is to foster professional success, community involvement, and lifelong learning and creative activity.
