42nd ANNUAL PILSEN EAST ARTISTS OPEN HOUSE
DATES CHANGED from OCT 5,6&7, 2012 to OCT 5&6, 2012!!
The Pilsen East Artists Open House will only happen Friday and Saturday because
of the Chicago Marathon. The Chicago Marathon will be held on Sunday Oct 7th, 2012,
and Halsted street will be closed from 18th Street to Archer Street to accommodate
the marathon route. Additionally, many of the side streets will also be closed or
have resident only access during the day on Sunday Oct. 7th, severely limiting access
to the neighborhood. Due to this scheduling conflict and the related logistical
issues, the Pilsen East Artists Open House will now run for two days, Friday Oct
5th from 6-10pm and Saturday Oct 6th from 12-7pm.

Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Awards recipients to the Chicago Arts
District in 1932 S. Halsted St. The exhibition showcases award-winning, cutting
edge emerging artists, displaying captivating examples of skill and concept that
broaden the notion of sculpture. For more information on the Student Awards, please
visit www.sculpture.org.
The showPODs along Halsted St. will feature the Installation
Experiment, which showcases the installation work of 7 accomplished Chicago-based
artists. The Installation Experiment was selected as one of 12 featured events for
this year's Chicago Artist Month, as it perfectly embraces their theme of 'block
by block.' The showPOD venue provides a rich public art experience that breaks down
the traditional parameters of a gallery or museum. These storefront exhibition spaces,
located on the 1800 block of S. Halsted Street, create an art experience with 24/7exposure.
To provide opportunities for the public to meet and interact with the artists, evening
and two day-long receptions (and performances, events) have been scheduled during
the Open House.
